Documenting Britain

Non Place

Between city and countryside is a Non Place, a space where multi-layered traces of meaning can exist at anyone time. This topographical terrain engenders new navigational techniques to explore and record it. Landscape plays a pivotal role in my artwork. I am drawn to the spaces in-between spaces, liminality, the periphery, the edge and what lies unseen outside the edge, this Non Place.

Suspended Landscapes

Documenting interconnected landscapes through East Anglia, Essex and then along the Thames gateway to the shores of Kent. Exploring how the edges and peripheries of these landscapes evoke a undetermined use and refrain from easy definition echoing a transitional and subtle vision of the future.

This film shot on super 8 overlays the decaying landscapes of two differing island places both affected by the presence of rising water levels, urbanisation and transience.

These photos mark the boundary of the the ancient footpath of the Icknield way entering into East Anglia via a chemicals and sewage plant on the outskirts of Hitchin.
